Oh god, really getting carried away here. I display my little lot, of what are RAF PRU/SQN WWII aircraft on a base of "grass" for the smaller aircraft, ie Spits and Hurricane, and then the bigger types, ie Mosquitoes, Hornet and Mitchell on a "runway" type surface, made from grey vinyl tiles, got enough to cover the whole two tables, about half and half, obviously jets look silly on grass, any thoughts/suggestions? Table cloth, got enough to cover all with RAF Blue. ish! Any thoughts or ideas? if manage to get shelves, thought about jets on shelves, prop stuff on table? Labels? got labels and "PR" photos to spread around to add interest, but nothing beyond WWII, any thoughts or ideas??? How about a big banner on poles above, any thoughts or ideas???

Ted love to, thanks for the offer, think I'm going to try and get some "shelves" for the tables, to try and cram everything on, any ideas where I might look? By the way just had a look at your website and noticed a review for the Global Hawk UAV, with it being "Recce"", WOW now thats an interesting model with presence, do you know if its available in this country Colin Colin, any shelves you will probably have to make yourself, most I have seen are built to suit the display. The Global Hawk kit is available in the UK I am sure I have seen it at Hannants new shop. The model you saw made up was built by my old friend Colonel Chuck Holte, USAF. BTW my models are all 1/48th as seen on my site

Colin,
Mine were a mixed bag of 1:48 and 1:72 - see my email.
As for shelves, a few years ago we at Avon were looking to replace our custom-built old wooden stand. After a bit of research which concluded that a similar thing custom-built would cost silly money (we're modellers, not carpenters, after all!) we sent the our Exhibitions Logistics Manager* to B&Q where he picked up some cheap and cheerful modular plastic shelving units. They're much lighter to carry than the old stand, easy to assemble and disassemble, and adaptable to the table space you're given at any show.
HTH,
M
* Steve, who transports the stand to shows.

Cheers Guys,
I guess I'm going to have to get bending some perspex, blessed and cursed with being practical!
Mike C, Exhibitions logistics manager! like that, catchy, must try and come up with some others? Keep thinking of three letter abbreviations (TLA)s

Just dawning on me that I ought to book some accommodation for Friday and saturday night at SMW 2006! Never stayed over before, and having just convinced "she who must be obeyed" that I need to go for 2 days, starting to look at where to book, any suggestions? any chance of meeting one evening for a chat?

If you look here on the forums in the SMW 2006 section there is something mentioned on accomodation next to the venue. I personally feel they are ripping us off and have elected to stay nearby in Ironbridge, there is a link on the boards to locally available accomodation.

Mike C, inspired by your post regarding dispatching the "exhibitions logistics manager" to B+Q to acquire shelving and having had a good look at the Avon IPMS website, by the way, some flippin' excellent models there!, went down to pray at the DIY Mecca!, came back with what looks to be almost identical shelving as you use, so hopefully space at SMW 2006, shouldn't be a problem, fighting chance of getting everybody's models on. Top tabulous tip that shelving, thank you..

Look at last post, have hopefully got enough space to exhibit ALL models promised for this year, however I have labels/photos for all of my models, can I rely upon you all to provide labels/and/or photos for your models??? If not I can have a go, let me know, want to not only display models but something about the subject? Have found that people are attracted by A-Good models, but B-information about how/when/where they where used, have a think. Current plan, all jets and bigger aircraft on shelfs, with "concrete" base. All smaller types on main table with "grass" background, interspersed with photos and information, any thoughts or ideas? Thinking about next year! How about Jet PR aircraft? as a theme???

Being a "Paranoid " bunny, having had email saying that table space is Two tables at 6foot by 2ft, is that not smaller than previous years? Got the impression looking at photos and memories, tables were 6X3? any comments? Just trying to make a rough table plan using recently aqcuired shelves on a dining room table that is 6X3.....
