I have noticed a few post's in different places, can we try to focus our attention upon here, to help people make the model....? Accurately, and give them options...
I have bought three of the beasts, and have only just started to to put glue to plastic tonight.
Problems and solutions to the kit......... Help me please, photo's would be good...
Have to say, it is a wonderful starting point, am kind of used to having to modify everything PR.....
Cockpit, biased towards B(I)8, no major problem for PR 9, what can you see in the PR 9, unless presenting Navigators seating arrangement, and I look forward to some one doing the kit with nose 'open'...... I am not brave enough....
Fin,. forward, at the base, sorry Airfix, but it's wrong, and needs correcting, not looking forward to doing this, subtle correction.... Photo shows comparison between Airfix and Classic Airframes, plans and other photos will confirm the difference.
Looks to be about half way between the two models....
Vortex generators, on wings and fin... At least 1mm thick, now that's 4 inches at 1/48... Do not know easy solution.
Camera in nose, fine, but there are two others, starboard and port....They are there, and remained until the aircraft was retired.
Note also the position of the navigators window, sorry, day/night indicator... Between the model and the photo.
Good Idea Colin - keeps all reference material in one place.
Southsix, My Dear Sir, could you possibly transfer the Recce Sig thread to this site as it would help.
Have opened the PR9 box and looked inside but not got as far as opening the plastic bag ! but agree with you reference the vortex generators - I'll put some stuff up re that later - as far as I can tell, Airfix have omitted the four generators under the wing tips either side of the tip tanks - odd, I pointed this out to them at the Scottish Nats in Perth last April !.
Bearing in mind that the Festive Season is all too rapidly approaching - posts here may be a bit slow.

... Southsix, My Dear Sir, could you possibly transfer the Recce Sig thread to this site as it would help.
It already is Dennis ... Looking at the threads within this board, it seems folks are starting new threads outside of the subject, this leads to an untidy and space hungry board. There are several solutions to the problem, one would be to create a sub-forum for various subjects, although this can create problems of its own where threads could be duplicated and out of sight of the main board. The cure as I see it is to request that members post in the correct threads and not to split the subjects.
Will do! I've started mine too, just painted the inside black, I'm not going to open the nose up on this one but will at some stage, may be the next one. I have a ton of photo's if you need some thing specific let me know I'll e-mail them to you. One other annoying thing, other than the ones you have pointed out is if you want to build it as it was at retirement you will have to add the IR. counter measures thingy's to the wing tip's not a big job but one that really should have been in the kit I think. Also the extra strengthening to the underside of the tail planes, and the wrong seats, and the power servos for the ailerons look a wee bit small to me, also the one for the rudder is missing altogether. If you want to build an early PR.9 you will have to alter the detail on the underside of the wing, also the camera fit. But having said all that I'm very glad Airfix have done the kit, and more power to Trevor!!

Got a bit further on.....
Wing leading edge, inboard of engines, two distinctive inlets, one rectangular and one round, not there....
Easy to do, BEFORE you glue the wings together, Bugger wish I knew how to put photos on here...... Ooh, I seem to have got the knack of photos.....
Trailing edge of wing, outboard of engines. Flaps tend to be down on the ground, hence problem. Trailing edge of outboard flap has small strip on top that forms part of upper wing surface when raised. Not there on the kit, and the trailing edge, of the upper wing above the flap on the kit, not straight or in right place, small difference I know, but it's not right and noticeable,
Navigators windows, sorry the 'Day/Night' indicators... Not quite in the right place, a little high. See photos, and look at panel lines. Model windows above panel line, aircraft windows below and 'slanted' nose down more....
Nose cone..... Some what straight edged in profile. The PR 9 nose should follow same profile as all other Canberra's, subtle problem to correct.
Panel lines.... Aft of wing on both sides of fuselage, are plates on the fuselage. Thickening the skin to counteract 'noise' vibration. All Canberra's tend to have them, and when you look closely at photos, you see them on all aircraft, easy enough to do I guess, am going to make 'master' feel free to email me for a copy....
Starboard engine, near the front, exhausts on top are wrong on the kit, not port engine,
Hi Collin, it's looking good so far!! Further to the fuselage strengthening plates, they are only applicable to Canberra's with the more powerful Avon's as fitted to the Mk.6 onwards, including the PR.7's, but this mod. looks like it was a retro fit to the airframes as I've seen photo's of B.6's with out it. I'm not sure as to when it was introduced but it would be worth your while having a good look at a PR.7 if you are building an early one, As far as I can tell this also applies to the PR.9's. Another difference on the PR.9 is the strengthening extends further down the fuselage that on other Mk.'s also the plates on the PR.9's are of a different shape to those on the other Mk.'s of Canberra's, see photo. The servo's for the ailerons are on the kit but look fare too small to me.
