I must apologise that this build starts about half way through, but I've only just joined and I'm still getting used to the idea of photographing things as I go along. Any comments, advice, criticism etc. welcome, as I definitely still at an early stage in my modelling career...
Here we go then...
Chassis prior to primer
I had quite a bit of difficulty with the white metal rods used in the steering and either couldn't get them to look straight, or they were too fragile (or i was too ham fisted), so I replaced them with brass tube of the same thickness. The brake pipes and various other "plumbing" lines were added in lead wire, but I would use copper next time, as I think that it would be a bit more robust.
Cab without "roof rack", wing mirrors, glazing etc
Managed to get a coat of primer on the chassis, which really starts to bring ouut some of the fantastic detail in the KFS mouldings.
... and now for the cargo area.
I replaced the white metal shackles below the centre of each drop side with brass ones from RB Model which IMHO are a big improvement. I plan to hang a scratch built straight tow bar from the offside shackles.
I've just noticed how bowed the headboard looks! I'll have to get the boss' hair dryer out and see if I can straighten it a bit.
I don't know if I will use the seats yet, but I thought it worth showing them in place.
I couuldn't resist one of all the bits put together...
The final colour scheme is "fluid" to say the least, but I'm tending towards trying to reproduce that rather washed out green finish that our Admin vehicles used to end up with. Any suggestions welcome....
I must apologise for the fuzziness of some of the photos - I've not quite got the hang of "depth of field" and will need to sit down with the instruction book this evening.
More to follow hopefully before too long.
