Hi Nige,
Praise from you is praise indeed! I've been following some of your builds "on the quiet" for a little while. I would be really grateful for your UBRE drawings and will PM you shortly. The drawings for the FV 2408 trailer are still "in production", and as soon as I can take a short break from cutting plastic I will get to finish them! I will send you a copy as soon as they are finished.
Cheers
Steve

I've returned to the Bedford MK, as I'm stuck at the moment with the FV2408 trailer, waiting for wheels and various other bits to arrive through the Christmas post. I decided to concentrate on the MK chassis during the last couple of days and have managed to get some colour on it (Field Grey over Games Workshop chaos black undercoat, over Halford's Primer). I then added a bit of surface rust in corners and angles, and applied a MIG dark wash to other angles, before getting the desert sand make-up box out for a few highlights... Here's a few of the latest state of the trailer that will (eventually) sit behind the Bedford Despite appearances to the contrary, the Bedford and the trailer are both the same colour! I'm doubtful that I will ever get the hang of this photography malarkey.... Tips and comments (good or bad) always welcome. Cheers Steve

Thanks Nige, I bet you've been pouring over the MK paperwork today, after completing your ablutions, of course! I've been experimenting with the airbrush on the chassis, and I think that I am (finally) starting to understand how it works, even though I still can't get it to do what I want..... Steve

Thanks Frank and Barrie. After my disaster a few weeks ago whilst painting the engine, I finally managed to get it finished, having first having to strip it back to bare resin! I've only dry fitted it so far and must remember to fit the short prop shaft from the gearbox to the 4WD splitter box BEFORE finally fixing the engine in place... I've also managed to get a base coat on the upper and lower cab assemblies and also on the cargo area. Whilst doing a quick dry fit I managed to snap off the offside indicator bracket - ham fisted or what! Still, gave me something to do whilst waiting for paint to dry... All comments welcome Steve

Nige, Should have the trailer finished by the end of next week - I've even opened up the rear hook on the 4 tonner in readiness! It really has been a fantastic kit to build and is a really great testament to Howard.
Not sure how I will display it, as it will be half a metre long. I think that I may opt for a very simple plain black base, but any advice or tips welcome, as ever!

I want to do a partial building such as a farm building or industrial shed using my corrugated tin machine for walls and/or roof to make a scene like this This was me arriving at an UBRE refueling stop, taken from my DAF DROPS cab which could be somewhere up Dundee direction !!!!!!!!! Unfortunately I never annotated any of my TA photos with dates or locations, which in hindsight is a massive pain !!!!! The years have passed and each exercise has blended into mixed memories as even the photos have got mixed whilst browsing for references on the DROPS model !!!!! I am sure I have more pics of me in Germany at a Luftwaffe base with the MK UBRE vehicle I drove. We set up a refueling point for the DROPS right beside and parallel to one of their long, basic tin shelters, an ordinary flat roofed three sided, MT type made of corrugated tin and steel portal frames. The frames were spaced to allow a single vehicle, possibly two. It housed their utility trucks, tow tractors and snow plow attachments. We were told to set up our crash mats and slugs between the snow plow attachments as our accommodation. The location and set up could be similar for G10 wagon, resupply stop of consumables, transfer point, if you can find a fork lift !!!!!!!!!!!! Nige

WOW Nige, this would be one hell of a project, but then you've already got the DROPS You would be looking at a diorama that was about a metre squared.... Think big! Steve

Nige,
Quite fancy having a go at scratching a JCB Rough Terrain forklift... How difficult do you reckon it would be? I will start doing some research. Doesn't life get busy?
Cheers
