I've been concentrating on trying to solve the problem of no wheels for my 1.75t FV2408 trailer, without success so far. I had hoped that the wheels from the KFS 1/2 ton trailer would be close enough, but their just too small, so it's back to the drawing board again. I decided to do a bit of therapeutic weathering on the cab exterior on the MK to cheer myself up, but then started to worry that it's beginning to look like a very inferior copy of Spencer Pollard's incredible MK build. I shall try and resist the temptation to look at Spencer's build until I've finished mine, although they do say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery..... Steve

Nige,
I used a Tamiya weathering "make-up" box and applied dry light sand pigment with a foam tipped applicator (£2 for 10 from the make up counter at Boots, or free if you pinch them from SWMBO's dressing table). Between each application, I applied a light coat of Humbrol acrylic matt varnish, until I got the faded look I wanted - it took about 4 or 5 goes before I was happy.
Cheers
Steve

If you consider someone else's model is incredible, and you decide to make yours different to avoid copying them, would yours be even more incredible, or simply not as good? If your effort is accurate, then it doesn't matter if someone else got it right, too. Like everyone else, I think yours is great.

Hi Nick, thanks for the kind words, and I'm looking forward to seeing it finished too I'm still focusing on the wheels for the trailer at the moment, and thing that I should have some 3D CAD drawings for the wheel, tyre and brake drum by Tuesday next week. Just a case then of getting them printed in 3 D plastic.... I'm going to have a go at doing the MK canopy in tissue and PVA - any tips gratefully received, as I've never tried this before.... Cheers Steve

Nick, very many thanks - I will be in touch in a few weeks if that's OK? Not a problem, and if it's not finished by the Scottish Nationals, we'll do it there ... OK ... ;D

All my effort lately has been focused on trying to master the art (or should that be black magic?) of mould making and resin casting for the wheels and tyres of the FV2408 1.75 tonne trailer that will sit behing my Bedford MK. I currently on my third version of the mould, but this one does seem more promising..... One thing I have discovered is that RTV Silicon takes a long time to cure, which gives you lots of time for doing other things, like building more of the Bedford! I've now fitted the two parts of the cab together, installed the dashboard, glazed the cab and fitted it to the chassis. I've still got things like wind mirrors, indicators and roof hatch to fit before the cab is complete and I can concentrate on finishing the cargo area. Steve
