Hello all!
Seem to be having problems with ISP, had no emails in two days, not even 'junk' ones, most surprising.....
Somebody try and send me something! Most unsettling having no junk emails to delete...what is happening with the world, how did I cope before the internet....................Been to meet Dennis today, I think we may have an interesting display this year....A fair few interesting items amongst the display
The world has gone mad......

Dear All......
Problem all resolved I am assured by my ISP.............
And promptly got 27 junk emails!
Well I suppose it confirms they weren't fibbing!
I feel as if a huge weight has been lifted from my back, I can now pick up the pieces of my life again, how the hell did we cope without email in the dim and distant past?
Didn't get yours Dennis but did get 'Popeye's'.......?

Julien, WOW I have to see that in the flesh, it looks amazing...how does it stand up, force fields/ magnets/the dark side of the force, or discreet wires? You are more courageous than me, I have to admit that I would never attempt something like that... Pity you say it will not be ready for November... What else do you have in the 'to do' pile at the moment? Anything you are planning on displaying? Colin Errrrr...... I will get back to you on how it hangs when I actually figure it out! At the moment I am having problems with my email as well. I will bring, 1/72 Photo Banshee, RF-8G, Fairy Seafox, Be-4 Flying Boat and my little 1/144 RF-8G I am hoping to get the 1/48 U-2R with the rams horn antenna done as well. I will bring the Drachen kit along so you can all look at me, scratch you heads and get me committed ;D Will have to see if I can shoe horn anyhting else into the build schedule as also have 4 Helos to build for the Aerobatic SIG display! Do you still have yr references for RF-8G and Photo Banshee to hand ? If so, I would be very interested to hear more as these are longterm projects "on hold" until I can get more gen ( and after I am trough with the "few" remaining Luftwaffe recce projects)

Dear All, Unfortunately Ian Shaw will not be able to make it this year with any of his marvelous AEW aircraft....! Which means we have a 'gap' in the display...anyone want to fill it? Otherwise it means we have potentially a bit more room to fill, any re-thinks on what you would like to bring? My Viggens are looking marvelous! I just thought I would like to say that! Colin

Just a thought - does the forward air control (FAC) role count as "reconnaissance"? If it does, I can do you a nice LT-6G "Mosquito" from the Korean War Guv.
(That's not a De Havilland Mosquito, folks, in case you were wondering, but a T-6 variant used in the FAC role using the callsign "Mosquito", hence that's what they were known as).

Finally in answer to your query in Reply 42, the RF-8 is based on the Revell 48th kit with Maintrack conversion parts. This makes it 50% plastic and 50% resin, ie heavy!. I'm back dating it to an RF8A, 146871, of VFP-62 based at Key West NAS in November 1962 and involved in the "Blue Moon" over flights of Cuba during the Crisis.
Mike C
Ref your Reply 53. I cannot speak for Colin but personally I say "Why Not". The beauty about the Recce SIG is that it is the broadest of broad canvases on which to display our models. Anything used for Recce goes as far as I am concerned. Could be a Vehicle, Boat or a Group of Soldiers - all from any era - doesn't have to be "wingey thingies". It just so happens that most of us build models of flying machines and as far as I am concerned, they don't have to carry cameras - just be used for Recce.
Having thrown that two pence worth in the air for discussion - I'm going for breakfast!

Dear Collective consciousness, Having just read latest,
Completely agree with Dennis......The Recce SIG is just that, anything to do with reconnaissance! whether it is aircraft or anything else.....It's the great thing about this SIG, it covers so much!
I have to admit that when I started this I only had models of aircraft in mind, and that was my fault, I had not thought it through! That being my 'angle' on the subject, but it was rapidly brought home to me that an awful lot of stuff could come under that umbrella, and I have to admit that I am in complete agreement with that train of thought!
Let us face it 'Recce' covers an awful lot of ground.......
After all, it was certainly the basis for the majority of air forces that were formed within western Europe, let alone the rest of the world. But events moved on from there and all sorts of naval and land efforts were put into reconnaissance!
I am for all of them being included within this SIG, despite me (personally) not appreciating them when I started this...My fault!! Admit...would be most interested in hearing from armour modelers interested in the subject.......Or Naval modelers, Gives you another outlet for your models...And whom does not want their models to be shown .....
I am all for any one who wants to present models of anything other than aircraft, as long as it has something to do with reconnaissance!!! That is what I have come to appreciate about the subject and the SIG, It covers a lot of ground,I am all for that, to my mind it helps to show to the world what a part reconnaissance has played in shaping the armed services that we see today.......
Please, anyone apart, from aircraft modelers, and you as well, feel free to contact me...

Oh, you've done it know, have to issue myself with a copy of Osprey Elite on British Recon regt in WW2 - fun with armoured cars (and perhaps the odd Honey). If you now have space to fill would you like my 1/48th Dinah again ? I may have a SEAC FR Spit for you as well .....

Mike and JonB,
I say yes to all! we will have the room, I feel quite confident in saying that, and to make a start on 'Recce' on the ground Jon would be good!
How about you put some thought into the background for 'ground based recce' models as all I have is generic sort of grey background for the aircraft, to make photos show aircraft to advantage.
Anyone else want to do AEW, of which we will have a gap this year, or any other 'recce' models of any sort.
Mike C, yes! Hey it still counts using your eyeballs from an aircraft to direct efforts of others, of course it counts as Recce!
To all, if you want to display, please just let me know how big things are, ideally wingspan-length in centimeters, just to give me an idea of what we have to fit in!!! Any ideas about how to arrange display?
Looking at more aesthetically pleasing shelving this year! Do we arrange centre outwards? oldest one side to more recent at the other end? Any thoughts gratefully received....
Colin

Hello Colin & All. As threatened I shall be able to bring 3 x Ju 88, 2 x Do 17 & 1 x He 111, and if the FineMolds/Matchbox marriage of a Me 410 gives up fighting I might even be able to finish a recce Hornisse in time.... all to 1/72nd of course. Would be nice to see some companions alongside... Re shelving - Colin, have a look at www.alfer.de/000/default_d_000.htmRolf
