Ayup Karl, welcome to the forum. When you finally get the room and find the time to do a spot of modelling, I look forward to viewing your efforts on here.

Been lurking here for a while, but some may recognise me from a couple of other forums! Here goes:
Name:
Paul Brown.
Age:
52.
Location:
The drinking capital of Essex otherwise known as Chelmsford.
Job/work:
Architectural CAD Technician.
Modeling Preferences:
Aeroplanes with a big fan at one end.
Modeling dis-likes:
Figures, I'm pants at doing faces etc.
Favorite model you have built:
Usually the last one I've completed (a rare occurrence), currently an Airfix Tardis. Can't resist the working features.
And finally, Which model has given you the most grief:
A 1/144 HP 142. I scratched all the struts individually from Contrail stock. With the model nearly complete I dropped it and the upper wing broke away - back to square one!

Name : Andy Wood
Age : 38
Location : Cirencester, with RIAT and Kemble on my doorstep
Job : Police Inspector, and aircraft mechanic and restorer on my days off.
Modelling Preferences : Aircraft, especially WW1 and pre-war, in 1/48th although I have three 1/32 subjects on the go (Hind, X-15 and MC72)
Modelling Dislikes : Sanding down, What ifs and Luftwaffe '46 (waste of time , effort, plastic and an excuse for accuracy) and club members who criticize others and yet do not bring models of their own.
Favourite model I have built : That is difficult. Each model brings its' own joys, but Tamiyas' Swordfish and AMs Avengers are pretty had to beat. I am also getting a kick out of building Cooper State Models Taube.
Models that gave me the most grief : Testors B2, without a shadow of a doubt. What a waste of plastic. Will no one bring out a decent B2?

Welcome Andy. Reading your bits and pieces I see that amongst your favourite builds is the Tamiya Swordfish. I have to admit that I really do enjoy seeing this aircraft at model shows, maybe one day I'll buy the kit and have a go, but until then, the Trumpeter Avenger is sitting on a shelf awaiting the time when I pluck up the courage to convert it into a fire bomber.

Name: Mike McCabe
Age: 46
Location: The modelling black hole, North Wales, midway between Bangor and Conwy. Nearest club to me is probably 70+ miles, nearest shop about 30 miles
Job/work: I work in nature conservation
Modeling Preferances: Ships mostly, some WW1 aircraft, a few other things as take my fancy
Modeling dis-likes: People who knock others chosen areas of interest and the nitpick brigade,
Favorite model you have built: HMS Dreadnought in 1:700, a difficult subject which unusually for me had very few mistakes.
And finally, Which model has given you the most grief: A White Ensign HMS Starling, spent ages on it and got so sick of correcting things wrong I eventually threw it in the bin when I had whittled so much off it there was hardly anything left.

Welcome to the forum Mike. I had a similar experience once with a nautical subject, the Revell Titanic. Everything from the hull upwards was way out of scale. It took me two years to eventually finish the model as a favour for a neighbour who had an uncle who served on her. I have to say 'never again', but we all say that don't we?

Welcome to the forum Andy. Have you considered using wire for the aerials and pitot tube?
