Hi,
My name is Fabio Beato from Italy, IPMS-UK member since 2009. I visited sometimes SMW and I very much like the way it is run. I model aircraft in 1/72 (mainly RAF and USAF/US Navy) and 1/144 airliners. Sometimes I digress with cars and trucks in 1/24.

Hi,
My name is Tim Perry, lapsed member, apologies, I'll rejoin at Telford!! I am 52, live and work in Bristol as a modelmaker for a product design consultancy. I still can't believe I get paid a salary to drive a sterolithographic machine, 2 CNC machining centres and a brand new 3D systems HD 3000 Projet 3D printer! Trouble is, my boss keeps giving me real work to do....
I've made models since I was 4 or 5, mostly aircraft but with a smattering of AFVs and ships thrown in. I am currently working on the masters for a 48th scale A34 Comet tank, and recently picked up a Trumpeter Swordfish MkII, which is distracting me completely. This could be a seriously good model, with a bit of work! I've spent a small fortune on bits and pieces for it, I really must start work on it sometime soon.
Other interests, keen biker, (GSX1250FA) and archer when time allows, although family and work taking up a lot of that particular resource.
Best kit I ever made, and finished, was Matchboxes Flower Class Corvette. It was a bit simple, but it was a challenge, and it looked great in its case and sea scape! Worst had to be some dreadful Su 27 kit that was released before Heller, Hasegawa etc made theirs. Oh, and Maybe the old Aurora Bristol Fighter...
Best kit I own has to be the Wingnuts Bristol Fighter. Just awesome.
See some of you at Telford hopefully, and Ted Taylor, I'm sorry about that Firefly!
Tim

... I am currently working on the masters for a 48th scale A34 Comet tank,... Ah, I've been reading about that on the Track 48 discussion forum, it looks to be very highly anticipated by the TOTS enthusiasts. I'll keep an eye out for updates.

As I have just got round to joining the IPMS, I thought i had better intoduce myself (some of you may recognise the username from some other forums). I hope one year to get down to SMW, but it always clashes with work committments being the same weekend as WRC Rally GB. My name is :Ian Douthwaite Age: 47 Location: I live in the small village of Greystoke (of the legend of Tarzan fame), on the edge of the Lake District. Job/work: I have been in the Catering and licensed trade most of my life,In recent years I was a Chef for several WRC teams I gave up full time work a couple of years ago, due to my wifes ill health. But I still do a little part time work, locally for the Ford rally team as their test track is in Greystoke Forest a short distance from my house. Modeling Preferances: 1/24 cars, mostly Rally Cars & in reciently started building Trucks Modeling dis-likes: aircraft, just not my area of interest Favorite model you have built: Ehmar Bedford Tirril Brewery Dray LinkAnd finally, Which model has given you the most grief: Nitto Kagaku 1:16 BMW 3.5 CSL, bought for me a couple of years ago. had several attempts at it but just don't seem to get into it regards Ian D

Hello Chris and welcome to the forum. My apologies for missing this last night and also for not recognising the name on facebook. I'm afraid wingy thingies sort of pass me by, I've got one aircraft in the stash and that's the Trumpeter Avenger TB-M which will be converted into a fire bomber when I can devote the time to it. I notice you dabble with truck modelling, well, if you ever need any help, shout up!

Hi David,
Welcome to the forum! Your user name caught my eye as it has "adi" in it. I am also a DSA ADI (car) and have been qualified for 20 years now. I work as a Road Safety Officer now so I just teach a few friends to keep my hand in.
Edinburgh is a great place - I got to know it as my wife did her degree there and likes to go back from time to time.
If you're struggling with paint look at my article in the lastest IPMS (UK) magazine or ask a question in my painting discussion thread in the cars section of this forum.
Cheers,

Hello David and welcome to the forum. So you model anything which takes your fancy? ... not a bad way to navigate this hobby. I have to admit a soft spot towards truck modelling but will and have built a few oddball subjects in the past. At the moment I'm tempted with the Italeri DaVinci models, but to be honest the stash is big enough. Did you attend the recent Scottish Nationals at Perth? ... we had a superb weekend and the following week navigating the Scottish Highlands. Enjoy looking through the various threads here, I'm sure you'll find something to latch on to and I look forward to seeing your work on the forum.

Thanks for the welcome, unfortunately only discovered the side last week so missed the Perth show. There is one at Cuper in Fife i will try and visit and hope to make a visit to Telford in November.
