Name: Michael Chilestone
Age: Half a Century not out (duly celebrated at SMW last year)
Location:Yate, Bristol
Job: Civil Servant
Modelling preferences: Aircraft to 1:48 scale, majoring in US and Czech stuff, WWII and Cold War.
Favorite model: Tamiya P-51B.
Modelling dislikes: Etched Brass, particularly tiny details.
Which kit has given the most grief: Two I can think of. Academy MiG 21, with CMK conversion for the MF: lots of badly-fitting resin and etched brass - it dived into the bin at Mach 2 (with a bit of help from me!). Airfix EA-6B, which bit back after I'd finished it, necessitating a hard time repairing one of the canopies. At least that one is complete!

Name: Nick Greenall
Age: 5 more needed for my umpteenth 50 (I play cricket too you see)
Location: Only just East of Telford (Start forming an orderly queue for November now!)
Job: Transformation Consultant (i.e. facilitating big changes in the workplace, making them stick)
Modelling preferences: 48th scale RAF and Fleet Air Arm, WW2 and since.; known too for one 24th thingie...
Favourite model: 24th scale Sea Harrier FRS.1 conversion from a GR.1 kit AND a 48th scale Tamiya Lanc called Emily. Why? I know the pilots of both; great guys. If I can have 2 more, I'll add a 48th Tamiya DH Mossie FB.VI in 248 Sqn Banff Wing markings and a silver DH Sea Hornet F.20.
Modelling dislikes: Etched brass or, as I tend to call it 'downskilling'. I will use resin if supplied in the kit (e.g. Classic Airframes) or there is no choice (Lanc nacelles) otherwise it's good ol' scratch-building for me; thank God for Slaters!
Which kit has given me the most grief: The 24th SHAR! Built once and needed a complete strip down and rebuild. After 1,000+ hours on it over 20+ years I still have the front u/c bay to detail...!
Modelling motto: "Stop criticising the inadequacies of the kit and make something of it; we're modellers, aren't we?!"
(Why do I say that? After making 15+ Airfix 48th SHAR FA.2s I could rant on for ages about the problems with the kit but NONE are insurmountable, IF you do some simple modelling! Keep making them Airfix!)
Have FUN !
Nick

Hello. My Name's Mark Chadbourne, and I'm an alcoho........oh wrong forum ;D I live in a town called Burton on Trent. If the world had piles, this is where they'd be! I "work" as a manager for Carphone Warehouse, bit of a bad career move as I hate flippin' mobile phones . I'm 40 year old, my body is 90 years old, my mind is 3 years old. I build mainly aircraft but I'll dabble in whatever takes me fancy. My favorite kit is the Airfix TSR-2, but I don't have a least favorite. The way I look at it is that if a kit gives me a few challenges then I'm getting more VFM from it cause it takes me longer to build. My number 1 pet modelling hate is rivet counters, its a hobby.............just enjoy it
