Modelling dislikes: Sanding/Filling/Sanding/Filling/Sanding and masking canopies

Name: Andrew
Age: halfway there.
Location: N. Ireland
Job/work: Unfortunately.
Modeling Preferences: only just returned to the hobby after 17 years off. Used to build 1:35 armour, but am currently building 1:72 aircraft - amazed at just how far kits have progressed quality-wise in my missing-years.
Modeling dis-likes: painting canopies, fragile decals
Favorite model you have built: Tamiya's Landrover ambulance.
Which model has given you the most grief: a vac-form Handley Page 'something' bomber, years ago - what a nightmare...

NAME: JON BOWD
AGE: APPROACHING 40
LOCATION: BRACKLEY, NORTHANTS
JOB: ACCOUNTS / OFFICE MANAGER
MODELING PREFERANCES: ALL THINGS SEAC & BPF, RAAF & RNZAF, FReNCH AIRFORCE - THE USUAL SUBJECTS BUT IN DIFERENT SCHEMES.
MODLEING DISLIKES:1) THOSE WHO CRITICISE BUT NEVER PRODUCE ANYTHING THEMSELVES, (2) THOSE WHO WILL TELL YOU THAT THE HASEGAWA SPIT IS 4MM TO SHORT BUT CAN'T TELL YOU JUST WHERE (BECAUSE THAT BIT WASN'T ON THE HYPERSCALE REVIEW THEY READ).I'M NOT DISPUTING THE POSSABILITY OF A FAULT BUT ONLY THOSE WHO REPEAT PARROT FASHION THE CURRENT COMPLAINT (3) THOSE WHO COMPLAIN THAT 'IT DOESN'T MATCH THE PLANS' WITHOUT ACKNOWLEDGING THE FACT THAT THE PLANS MAY BE WRONG.
FAV MODEL: 1/32 HASEGAWA HALLCAT, BECAUSE I SCRATCHED THE MARKINGS AND DID AN UNUSUAL SCHEME AND IT LOOKS OK (IF YOU SQUINT) !
LEAST FAVOURITE: A 1/72 BEAUFORT, THE TRANAPARANCES WERE JUST A BLOB OF FLASH COVERED GUNK, USELESS

Name:
Roy McKay
Age:
30something (still in denial...)
Location:
Peoples' Republic of Cork.
Job/work:
Coating Processer in the Pharmaceutical Industry
Modeling Preferences:
Aircraft (1/72), mostly modern and naval, anything Irish, Aircraft Carriers and other modern ships (1/700/720), some cars (1/24/25), Matchbox kits (1/72 and 1/76 armour) other scale aircraft.
Modelling Dislikes:
1; A new state of the art kit comes out. Then the experts say that the shape is all wrong/nose 1mm too short/cowlings out of true/etc. But it looks like a Spit/F-16/Fokker whatever to me.
Then the A/m companies fall over each other to issue cockpit and correction sets for it. I dunno about you, but if I'm going to spend top dollar for a Tamigawajimi wunderkit, I at least expect it to come with a cockpit. But I'd like a cheap cockpit set for the old kits in my stash that need it.
2; not enough time to build my stash.
Favorite model you have built:
Too many to mention, I like them all. Fujimi F-14A, Italeri F-104G, Revell A-320 some of the highlights.
Which model has given you the most grief:
Probably the hasegawa 1/72 new tool F-14A, way too much work but got there in the end. And the other was a Final Touch resin conversion for the Matchbox Spitfire Mk9 to a T.9. Got there in the end to discover the front cockpit was NOT moved forward on the resin part as it should have been, which defeated the point of using the d**n thing in the first place. I could've just cut a hole in the Matchbox (or Italeri) fuse to begin with and saved the price of another kit.

Job: Shipping Operations
Modelling Preferences: The Royal Navy post 1860, (Ironclads to the present day)
Modelling Dislikes: non constructive knit-picking. especially in areas where even the real experts don't have a conclusive answer.
Favorite Model I have Built:- L'Arsenal's 1/700th HMS Colossus, beautifully cast, complete etch, even for the aircarft & the best 40mm markV boffins in scale! (Looking forward to picking up their HMS Glory at Telford!)
Which model has given me most greif:- The Revell Monogram 1/96th Saturn V, I don't mind putting in a bit of work on a model, but but the fit, those damned bits of preprinted plasticard to make the smooth sections of the rocket.I finished, but more because My Wife bought it for me & my son thought it was brilliant!

Name: Dennis McCone Age: 55 Location: Great Sutton, Wirral, UK
Job/work: retired in 2004 on our return from Australia, spent all my working life working for Shell (Refinery Operations), in the UK, Thailand and Australia, couldn't face working in the UK again (so old fashioned) so took early retirement, spend my time on DIY (3 daughters with houses but no partners), models and old motorbikes.
Modeling Preferances: WW2, British and Commonwealth military subjects 1/35 scale, WW2 RAF, FAA, single engined 1/32 scale, multi engined 1/48 scale.
Modeling dislikes: German mania, why so many Tigers and 109's ?.
Favorite model you have built: All the old Revell 1/32 scale kits, lots of sanding and re scribing, not my favourite job but the end result is worth it. Which model has given you the most grief: Maquette 1/35 scale Valentine, nearly made me give up.
Cheers

Yep, One's husband walked out, one has a habit of picking losers and the last one was doing great, got engaged to a lad in the RAF (since left and joined the police), I gave them the deposit for a house, then I renovated the house for them, then he went off with someone else ! Never mind, all the house maintenance and decorating saves me getting bored.
Cheers
