In for a couple of pennies, (inflation, don'cha know)... My Name is Bruce Leyland-Jones and I build plastic model kits. Age Does maths in head...born '63, birthday last month...that makes me...er...43. Nope...it's 2007...must be 44. Location On the edge of the Duddon Estuary, north of Barrow-in-Furness, South Lakes, Cumbria. Local tourist officials label Barrow as "where the Lakes meet the Sea". Such a delightful way of describing the run-down docks and drug-strewn council estates! Job/Work Community Psychiatric Nurse, currently seconded to provide clinical input to a major Patient Administration System. Modelling Preferences Aircraft, in 1/72 and 1/144. I enjoy rigging, but the biggest 'buzz' just has to be that moment, when you remove all of the masking tape, to find a near-perfect paint job beneath. Hell Yeah! Love sci-modelling, when I have the space. ;D Will dabble with small scale armour, for light relief. Who needs weathering, when you've got two shades of brown? Modelling Dis-likes Airbrushing. Repeated filling/sanding/filling/sanding/filling/san...etc.. Rivet-counters are good, but JMN's bad...in fact, very bad. Favourite Model Tempted to go the My Latest Model Is My Favourite Model route, but... Probably a close contest between my Airfix 1/72 Bristol Bulldog II and my Handley Page AC-10D Jetstorm gunship. Which Model Has Given You The Most Grief? Another close contest, this time between the Airfix 1/144 F-104 Starfighter and the Dujin 1/72 resin Minié Arsenel Emouchet Escopette glider. Both total 'mares to finish to something like, but, (as I'm pleased with how the Starfighter eventually turned out), I'll vote for the glider. Best Regards, Bruce

Name: My name is Jamie Haggo.
Age: I'm 34 years old
Location: I live in Ichester, Somerset at the end of Yeovilton's runway 27!
Job/work: I am a Royal Navy pilot currently flying the lynx on 815 squadron but I have flown many other things so far in my career.
Modeling Preferences: I model aircraft exlusively; from 1:144 to 1:32. I have a bit of a 1:72 fad at the moment.
Modeling dis-likes: Masking canopies, painting wheels and riveting. Once you've riveted one airframe you have to do them all and it's sooooo boring. The results are well worth it though.
Favorite model you have built: Tamiya P-47 in 1:72.
Which model has given you the most grief: Classic Airframes SeaHawk. It was a commision and reminded me why I don't do short run kits.

......dunno why i actually wanted to do this, but i guess all's fair in love and threading........ NAME - richard a. nelson (rik) AGE - 58 ? this july LOCATION - belfast, ni (u.s. citizen having relocated due to the love of a wee irish lass) JOB/WORK - retired since '99 from the u.s. aviation industry as a FAA certificated aircraft repair design engineer. now, looking for anything part time with no stress & a fair wage. MODELLING PREFERENCES - 1/144 - 1/48 modern & wwII aircraft, dioramas & figures......good banter about the hobby.........shows and contests to meet folks in the hobby and gawk at the incredible imaginations and talent that never ceases to amaze me............ MODELLING DIS-LIKES - missing fiddly bits, glueing my fingers together, rivet counters & anyone who thinks or suggests this hobby is gender specific......... FAVORITE MODEL YOU HAVE BUILT - i think i'm building it now - a 1/48 hasegawa A-4E/F (in the fiddly & dangly bit stage), although i loved the Revell AG 1/144 SA-330 Puma Tiger & the forever ongoing 48th Blackhawk helo conversion......... WHICH MODEL HAS GIVEN YOU THE MOST GRIEF - somewhere in the early 90's a Monogram 72nd F-4J met the lab wall out of sheer frustration with the paint scheme.....which since i'd consider to be the biggest and most major boo boo of my modelling life..........it's a hobby & nothing should be so bad as to not be able to fix........it shames me to admit this to y'all........but there it is

Back building kits again after a very long break. Forgotten all the skills I had (if I had any) when I first built kits - but at least models don't cost a week's pocket money anymore. Trying to get my kids interested in this before they get too old.
NAME: Anthony Kesterton
AGE: 43
LOCATION: London
JOB/WORK: Work in IT helping people use software tools and development processes effectively
MODELLING PREFERANCES: mostly civilian stuff - including cars and planes, and Sci-Fi
MODELLING DIS-LIKES: Managing to buy kits faster than I can start building them :-) and not managing to have enough time to build.
FAVORITE MODEL YOU HAVE BUILT: A ESCI Schwimwagen - about 30 years ago
WHICH MODEL HAS GIVEN YOU THE MOST GRIEF: Currently, a Revell 747 (got some helpful advice on this board) and a nasty seam on a Star Wars kit that needs sorting out properly

Favorite model you have built: A resin figure kit called 'Love Never Dies' its the final scene from Bram Stokers Dracula in which Gary Oldmen is about to die. And finally, Which model has given you the most grief: Matchbox's 1/32 Lysander still not finished after two and a half years.

Well having seen that at least one on this thread is older than me - thanks Ted, I'll join in.
Name: Geoff Trenholme
Location: South Northamptonshire village of Potterspury
Age: 65
Job: Being Retired - This is the perfect career, but not renowned for the salary
Modelling: Aircraft, big ones and small ones, but all in 1/72 - joined IPMS in 1983.
Mental State: Unbalanced - Why did I ever think I could run 3 SIG's ?
Modeling dislikes: Painting, after all that filling, sanding, converting the d**n painting wrecks it. Gave up on the airbrush and now brush paint or use Halfords spray cans.
Favourite model: Probably my Airwaves 1/72 VC-10 K2, 4 1/2 years work on and off, finished when the 'Nationals' were at Donington, but I still love that big brute.
Model giving the most grief: that's probably one hidden in my half built stack, perhaps that very old Vacform Nimrod, plastic so thin every time I pick it up a seam splits open.

The Elitist's that rivet count on your latest build not realising that modelling is meant to be fun. Favourite model you have built: Tamiya's 1/32 F-16 'Thunderbirds' And finally Which model has given you the most grief: Airfix 1/48 Jaguar GR1A with Paragons T2 Conversion. The nose and fuselage just would not match up.
