Thought I'd introduce myself. Been modeling since I was about 6, a few years ago now! Spent 25 years in the British Army as I was always interested in all things military. Was an IPMS member back in the early 90's as part of IPMS Salisbury, have just re-joined. Main model sites, Britmodeller, Heli Kit News and Hyperscale
Age 43
My name Aubrey, 25 years in the army was called Oz, hence OzH as logon
Location Blandford, Dorset
Employment IT Service Management Consultant
Modeling Interests After many years only building AFV's, came into the light, now mainly build Aircraft. FAA, Helicopters (Royal Navy or RAF), Civilian Racers and some early RAF Jets.
Best thing about modeling First cut of a new build and removing masks at the end....
Worst thing about modeling Sanding, filling and having enough time to complete the stash.
Fave Kit Accurate Miniatures 1/48 Avenger, I or III, not fussed, either.
Most hated kit Hmm not found one yet

name nick webb
membership no 2505
age 52
job showroom host for a ford dealership
location reading berkshire
modelling preferences u.s navy aircraft in 1/72 scale from 1911 -2008 having said that i have yet to do a biplane as i need to practice doing the rigging first.
modelling dislikes like most people is rubbing down and preping the model for paint .it can go from good to aaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!
favourite model i have built now i know its an old kit but the hasegawa crusader just falls together.put that with eduards brass parts and you can build one very nice model
model that gave me the most grief my uncle was a navigator on short stirlings both with bomber command and later with transport command .i had allready built for him the airfix model.from the box (as i am typing this the memory and my eye is twitching again ) but 3 months ago i built for him the stirling transport version using the resin conversion kit. the amount of filler i used to get the nose profile right was a nightmare as for the rest of the kit least said about that the better.more than once i came close to launch the model out of the window.only do this model if you have to fill a gap in your r.a.f collection but be warned keep the door closed when building this model.so you will be out of ear shot of women and children
i joind ipms in 1974 and have been bashing plastic ever since i have seen a lot of changes in this hobby over the years all i can say its getting better and better

Good to see you here Nick, seems we're in the same business, although I'm just a driver for a Mercedes dealership. If you're attending SMW, drop in on Hall 1 and look for the 'Derby & District' stand or the adjacent 'Beyond the Box' SIG and come and say hello.

Every Forum you come across has one of these sections, so who am I not to fill in the requisite bits? Name:Kit Spackman (there's a surprise.......) Age:65 now, going on 66. Location:Lydney, Forest of Dean (that's on the west bank of the Severn, and no, it's NOT in Wales!) Job/work:What work? I retired in April (Yeeeehah!) from 30s years being a Service Manager/Field Engineer for a test equipment company. That took me all over the world and to some customers I'm not allowed to talk about. Used to work in the motor industry and for British Rail too. Modeling Preferances:Military aircraft in 1/72 scale, airliners in 1/144, been known to do the odd dragster in 1/24 and sports car in 1/43. My real speciality is 'Spoofs', I was one of the original members of the 'What If SIG' and my 'Meteor PR19' is still fooling aviation historians to this day, and it's 15 years old! I also do R/C boats and N gauge model railways as well, got to fill in the hours somehow.... Modeling dis-likes:Only ever built one AFV kit in my life, they just don't grip me somehow. Favorite model you have built:The 'Meteor PR19' probably, but there's hundreds to chose from really. Which model has given you the most grief:A Merlin 1/72 scale TSR2. NO WAY can it be built as a TSR2, total rubbish! I made a Spoof out of it, with the aid of an Airfix RA-5C.... Oh yes, been an IPMS member since the late 60s (Used to be #884 but they won't let me have my old number back ) I started the late lamented IPMS Trent Branch in 1970 and I used to be the Branch Liason Officer for some years, I must be mad.........
